Welcome to the theory group!
The division of theoretical physics (section II in the department) currently consists of five members. It has established itself as an internationally recognized research group in particle physics and cosmology.
Current research of the division
includes, high energy particle physics at the Large Hadron Collider
(LHC), quark and neutrino flavour physics, Higgs physics, theories
beyond the Standard Model, modified theories of gravity,
computational cosmology, black hole physics, supersymmetry, supergravity and string
theory.
The Theoretical Physics group is
closely related to the physics goals at large accelerator and
astrophysical facilities around the world (such as LHC and LISA).
All research subjects follow the Greek and European
Physics roadmap with the participation of members in various
theoretical working groups.
Three members (plus one Emeritus
professor) of the Theoretical Physics group have been enlisted in
the “World ranking Top 2% scientists” according to Stanford
University classification in years 2020 and 2021. The average
h-index of the group is currently h=30.
Our division has organized a large
number of international conferences, workshops and schools.
Indicatively, two major international conferences, namely,
PLANCK-2015, String-Pheno-2016 and SUSY-2022, were
hosted by the Theoretical Physics
group, each one having attracting more than 150 participants from all
over the globe.
